From Barbecue Competitions to Community Service

Matt’s passion for barbecue competitions has evolved into a meaningful community service mission. What started as a hobby now serves as a lifeline in times of disaster. After Hurricane Harvey, Matt saw the immediate need for nourishment and responded by bringing trailer pits and refrigeration trucks to Rockport. Over several days, he cooked breakfast, lunch, and dinner for first responders, fulfilling a crucial need when it mattered most.

Matt’s service doesn’t end in Rockport. He’s committed to feeding disaster victims and first responders across Texas. Through an ongoing partnership in Kerrville, Matt prepares meals for local first responders, ensuring they’re well-fed and ready to serve. Whether coordinating food donations or logistics for meal preparation, he has honed the skills and amassed the equipment necessary to nourish large groups effectively.

When communities face hardship, sometimes hope is delivered through the simple act of providing a hot meal. Being able to help by showing up with food when exhaustion sets in is vital. Community service can take many forms, and ensuring people are fed is among the most impactful.
